Engraved ecclesiastical bookplate coeval with the binding on front pastedown (or, a cross gules between 16 martlets), another armorial erased from binding blank, bought by Kerrison Preston in 1965 from Alan Thomas, his description enclosed. A profusely illustrated Book of Hours, with large miniatures in the style of the Master of the Echevinage of Rouen (Master of the Geneva Latini). The subjects of the miniatures are St. John on Patmos, the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the Shepherds, the Adoration of the Magi, Presentation in the Temple, Flight into Egypt, Coronation of the Virgin, Crucifixion, Pentecost, David & Bathsheba, Death with his Spear,Virgin and Child on a Mandorla, the Trinity. The two smaller miniatures are St. Luke, Virgin and Child. £20000-25000 | Nil |
