WARWICK HERBERT DRAPER (1873-1926) Summit of the Eiffel Tower showing Lighthouse Laboratories Edoux-Lift , signed, dated 1890 and titled within the margin, black ink and wash, 11.25" x 6.25", and a collection of sixteen further architectural studies of various part of the Eiffel Tower's construction (a lot)

Warwick Herbert Draper (1873-1926) famously lived at Kelmscott House, William Morris's old home between 1910 and 1915. He became heavily involved in the Hammersmith movement and his interest in town planning inspired his two books, 'Chiswick' published in 1923 and 'Hammersmith A Study in Town History published 1913'. Draper is often viewed as a mediator of Morris in his efforts to secure and maintain public access to private space. This perhaps part explains his interest in the construction of the Eiffel Tower for the Parisian.

We are grateful for the knowledge of Ruth Levitas in cataloguing these sketches.
