A GEORGE II MAHOGANY CENTRE LIBRARY TABLE in the manner of Giles Grendey, the rectangular top with a tooled green leather writing surface enclosed by a moulded edge with re-entrant corners over an arrangement of three drawers surrounding a cartouche-shaped kneehole and apparently retaining the original brass handles with open back plates, the sides with large brass carrying handles, on club legs and pad feet, 48.25" x 24.25". Provenance: Probably acquired from the Grosvenor House Antiques Fair in the 1950's or 1960's. The interior of a drawer with a label printed with a description of the desk at the fair.
