102 A QUEEN ANNE CHOCOLATE POT of baluster form, the domed hinged lid decorated with fluting and surmounted by a hinged cap with a part fluted knop finial, hinged thumbpiece, with a wooden "C"-shaped handle applied with a silver band, the graduated spout with a faceted rectangular central section embossed with flowerheads to each side, the body decorated with cut-out leaf and flame motifs, bearing a crest of a lion emerging from a turret/crown, the whole raised on a circular foot with a gadrooned border, by Thomas Corbet, London 1703, (c.34oz), 11" high. FP Provenance: This pot was originally in the Swathling Collection and was sold by order of the Executors as one of the Swathling heirlooms. Exhibited: It was on loan to the South Kensington Museum and exhibited at the Park Lane and the Burlington House Exhibitions. It was originally sold on Wednesday, 8th June, 1921 by Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods at their Great Rooms, 8 King Street, St. James's Square, London. £15000-20000
