This barrel-backed armchair may be compared to an example at the Royal Pavilion, Art Gallery and Museums, Brighton. Bamboo armchairs of this design are visible in the engravings after AC Pugin of The Blue Drawing Room and the Red Drawing Room at the Royal Pavilion.
