Lot 1: WU GUANZHONG (1919-2010) 'White birches on Mt. Changbai', hanging scroll, with two seals of the artist, 'Wu Guanzhong yin' and 'Bashi niandai', ink and colour on paper, 136cm x 67.5cm Provenance: Christie's Swire Hong Kong, 7th October 1990, Lot 205. Acquired from Plum Blossoms (Intl.) Ltd, Hong Kong, 2nd February 1991 Private Collection Hong Kong and London This work may be compared to 'White Birch 1986' exhibited as no. 11 in "Wu Guanzhong - a 20th Century Chinese Painter" at the British Museum 1992, no. 11. This particular work, which is directly comporable both in terms of size and composition to the offered lot, was published in "The Art of Wu Guanzhong (1987)", p. 93, and "Wu Guanzhong: A Contemporary Chinese Artist (1989)", plate 24.

Lot 8: A NANKING CARGO TEAPOT painted in underglaze blue with a willow and peony on a fenced terrace overlooking an island, c.1752, 12cm high, original Christie's label lot 2100 on base and lid. And a pair of Nanking cargo 'Pagoda and River' landscape pattern small size teabowls and saucers, 11.5cm dia. sold with a signed copy of 'Treasures of the Deep' by Hugh Edwards, 2000 (5). See illustration. Recovered by Captain Michael Hatcher from the 'Geldermalsen' and sold by Christie's in 1986, some 234 years after the sinking.

Lot 31: A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE SPOON TRAY OR TEAPOT STAND made for the European market c. 1780, centrally painted with a blindfolded Cupid within Rococo formal border with crossed cornu copiae, 18cm wide. A Chinese 'Imari' porcelain circular dish, circa 1720, 26.5 dia. and a pair of export octagonal soup bowls, c. 1800 painted with Manchu court ladies, 22cm dia. (4)
