WUCAI BARBED-RIM 'NARRATIVE' DISH, TIANGI / CHONGZHEN PERIOD, freely painted with a wandering scholar carrying a package over his shoulder and walking beside rapids, 21cm diam Provenance: Marchant & Son London, May 1998, the collection of Dr Carew Shaw. Exhibited: The World in Colours, Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition, 2006, no.85. Note: dishes of this palette are thought to have been made for the Japanese market.
