A RARE SYRIO-PALESTINIAN ICON showing St. Antony of the Desert standing beside a tree in a landscape, with an Arabic inscription, painted on a wooden panel, 19th century, 13" (33cm) x 9.5" (24cm), within a moulded frame Provenance: Private collection, Herefordshire. Syrian icons are exceptionally rare, even more so now due to the destruction of so many religious sites in the country in its' recent history.
