Antiques Roadshow Specialist joins Duke’s of Dorchester?.

 

Adam Schoon has joined Dukes at The Dorchester Fine Art Salerooms heading up their highly successful Asian Art Department. Their former head of department Andrew Marlborough, instrumental in developing the success of the firm’s Asian sales has left to pursue a personal career in the church. 

Adam has had a lifelong passion for Chinese and Japanese art, with a particular interest in the “Himalayan Arts” of Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and India, including bronzes, silver, textiles and thangkas. As a young man Adam joined the Oriental Ceramic Society of London and took the opportunity to travel extensively both in Europe and the Far East to study museum and privately owned collections.

As a consultant valuer of over 35 years he has specialist knowledge relating to probate, insurance, and chattels lease-back schemes. In addition he has often acted as an expert witness in court cases. Adam looks forward to working with Dukes and making himself available to visit clients for sale valuations throughout Europe and indeed worldwide.

Adam is a well-known specialist on BBC TV Antiques Roadshow having joined the programme in 1999. As a trustee of The Bowes Museum in Co Durham he was involved in the recent modernisation of the European and Oriental ceramics gallery - considered one of the finest in the UK. 

As a speaker and lecturer on numerous antique subjects he is always keen to help local charities with fund-raising events.
