Phillip Traves has been working with auction houses for nearly forty years. As an eight-year boy he started collecting old bottles and has been an eclectic collector to this day.
Phillip started his career in the early 1980s at Riddetts of Bournemouth and later moved to Rumsey & Rumsey in Parkstone. Widening his knowledge, he then trained and worked as a furniture restorer and conserver in London and later being self-employed in Dorset. In 2002, he joined Duke’s, firstly at The Weymouth Auction house, then the Grove and is now the manager and auctioneer at The Avenue Auctions.
Phillip can regularly be seen bombing around Dorchester in his 1956 split screen Morris Minor Traveller, which he has owned and restored twice since he was 16.
