Originally from Poole and having grown up in Spain for the majority of his life, Max relocated back to England in 2010. He started out his career at Provincial saleroom Cottee’s in Wareham, where helped to successfully run their regular and popular Antiques and Interiors auctions to include cataloguing and running specialist sales in Poole Pottery and Moorcroft. He conducted his first auction at the tender age of 18.
After almost 5 years with the firm, he decided to take some time out to enjoy one of his main interests, travelling. He travelled throughout India and the majority of South East Asia, to include Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, where he learned about different cultures and explored Temples and World Heritage sites.
Upon his his return from travelling in July 2017, Max joined Duke’s as an auctioneer and valuer, to run the Art & Design post 1850 auctions and head up the Silver Department with fellow specialist Robert Nevin. Max is a member of many societies in the industry to include The Silver Society, Decorative Arts Society and is also a member of The Antiques Young Guns and the Poole Pottery Collectors club. Max is fluent in Spanish and has a keen interest in 20th Century Design and Modernist Silver and has handled and successfully dealt with many private and important collections.
